Without Walter Grahaus's decision to grant female students a place within the Bauhaus, art-inclined German women may never have had the chance they needed to carry on their career. the schools themselves, in design, were revolutionary for the modernist movement. Architecture and the modernist movement could be interpreted as a reflection of the world at the moment of conception. Being a brutal, impersonal and often cold and intimidating space. The artists, in fact, were aware that the world around them did not accept what they were doing. In fact, many works of art were seized from the Bauhaus and displayed in Hitler's 1937 Degenerate Art Exhibition. Hitler used this art exhibition as a way to mock and degrade art he deemed unacceptable. The fear and conflict the artist was going through was channeled into using creativity to innovate objects that were useful and needed to be manufactured. The concept of fine arts and applied arts under one roof gave a new purpose to the art world, when there was less and less public desire for artistic production. The Bauhaus allowed the art movement to move forward by creating a space and function for artists and their teachers in a time of struggle and desperation. Passion
