To think that the punishments that politicians, officials and suppliers mean justice in this case would be absolutely wrong. The fact remains that the lost money was never recovered. Families who remained poor and hungry never had the opportunity to succeed. Even after so many years, when Bihar is a much better place, it lags behind states with similar or even lower capabilities. The fodder scam was not a disease: it was a mere symptom of the deep and chronic cancer that is the corruption plaguing India. Since it was discovered, the scam has taught some lessons to the people of India. It has exposed bureaucratic corruption and the criminalization of politics and government.
