I believe that in life, somewhere along the way, we all lose our way. We become cynical. We become strangers to ourselves. We stray from our path. My film will show this in action by exploring a young man who ventures out with nothing but a bicycle to find his way back. The main conflict is between himself and the young man. His mental struggle to accept his flaws, let go of the past, and move forward into the future. I want the audience to feel the frustration and anguish of the young man and encourage him to find whatever it is he is so desperate to find. Ultimately, I want them to understand that getting lost is all part of the journey and what life throws at you; in the end it's worth it. The American Dream has been incorporated generation after generation. He told you to work hard, prepare yourself, go to college, choose a career, maybe even go to graduate school, and then, once you graduate, you will continue to live the life you've always dreamed of. Sounds simple, right? I mean, that's why tuition prices are so high, right. Isn't a well-received education the best investment you can make? However, what happens when the outcome does not materialize as expected. What happens to those who have trained all their lives only to find that their training wasn't good enough? Those who have taken out thousands of dollars in loans to make that “wise investment” only find that there isn't a market that wants them. An entire generation of Americans waiting for an opportunity that never comes. What should they do? How should they move forward? Should they sit down and let the phone ring? Or should they set off in search of a new path? . I want to make a film about finding that path. A film about venturing into the unknown... middle of paper... with cameras, one for each vehicle and one to attach to my helmet while I ride. Due to the budget and nature of the film, artificial lighting will be minimal. Camera management will involve the main camera being placed in front/next to me while I drive, as well as a go-pro camera in each vehicle and one to attach to my helmet while I drive. The pace will follow a consistent rhythm with the consistency of my running and how my body reacts to it. We will compare my experience with the opinions of people we may meet along the way and the realistic expectations of our crew. I expect the conclusion of my film to showcase my life at home after the trip and establish how the lessons from this experience will help me conquer the next phase of my life. My hope is that my audience will understand that perseverance and determination allow the human mind to conquer anything.
