Have you ever thought about how much soda you consume and how bad it can be for you? Many people will drink soda instead of water, simply because it tastes better. The government should limit the intake of sugary drinks because it can lead to many different problems such as heart disease, obesity, and overall, it is an unhealthy lifestyle. “The average person consumes nearly 100 pounds of sugar per year, of which the main source is soda.” A sugary drink every now and then would be fine, but drinking it every day would cause you problems overtime. People drink, more soda than water. People should consume at least eight 8-ounce glasses per day. Almost no one will drink that amount of water per day. In today's society it can be easy to grab a soda for a dollar and move on. They might taste better but they are not better for your health. “Sugary drinks include soda, fruit punch, lemonade and other sugary powdered drink 'helpers' and sports energy drinks.” Sugary drinks are a major cause of obesity. Most children and young adults are overweight or obese because they consume excessive amounts of sugary drinks. “2 in 3 adults and 1 in 3 children in the United States are overweight or obese.” In most cases, children and adults consume some type of sugary drink and then do not perform any physical activity. Mainly sugary drinks such as soda and energy drinks are advertised to children between the ages of 2 and 17. Obesity is a major problem in the United States Many Americans will develop type 2 diabetes in their lifetime because they have consumed too many sugary drinks. They consume but do not perform any physical activity. For a person to be fit and healthy, he or she must undergo 30-60 minutes of physical activity and... middle of paper... because of all these problems. The government should limit them.
