In our current society, women have become a double-edged sword. In addition to getting married and having children, women have started to make huge progress in their careers. Female society has become highly independent and competitive with men, and in many cases money is at the center of this conflict. Women simply care as much, if not more, about money than men. In our society women are forced to shop and spend more money on products. Women began earning college degrees and entering high-paying, competitive job fields, acting as the sole breadwinners of their families. Many women have now adopted a feminist attitude whereby many young women feel obligated to earn their own income. Due to increasing changes in our society, women have learned to place a higher value on money than men. Of course there are still some women who would prefer to be housewives and stay-at-home moms, but that's not because they're "gold diggers" or "scroungers," it's because they much prefer to stay at home and focus on maintaining a comfort level for his family. One of the simplest examples of why money is more important to women than to men is their purchasing habits. It's been a joke over the years that women love to shop, and this is essentially true. However, in all honesty, women and men make almost equal purchases. The difference is that women make these purchases more often than men (Hale). Throughout history women have always been known as caregivers. Society expects them to have children and build a family. Part of this responsibility is purchasing everyday items used by the family.
