Kurt Cobain, in his 'suicide note', found next to his body on Friday 8 April 1994, declared his hatred towards human society. Died at 27, he remains one of the most monumental and controversial lyricists in history. Despite his stormy marriage to drug addict Courtney Love, reckless drug abuse, and an emotionless childhood, Cobain became the epitome of a rock star: a charming misfit who spent every waking minute under surveillance by cops anti-drug or agents. Time magazine paparazzi. Kurt in fact lived the life of a punk rock fantasy and continues to be remembered as he was advertised: the last true rock star. Wendy, Kurt's mother, gave birth to her first child on February 20, 1967 ("Kurt Cobain"). Wendy was a stay-at-home wife while her husband, Donald, worked at the local gas station in Aberdeen, Washington. Despite Kurt's poor home life, he stated that his childhood was full of happiness. Kurt received nothing but hugs and kisses as a child, it was as if the Cobains focused on affection, the main philosophy of the family (Gracie 7). Aside from his relationship with his parents; however, came his association with music – the two components that formed Kurt's personality. "Since he was two years old," Aunt Mari began, "he has been singing...He sang Beatles songs like "Hey Jude"...He had a lot of charisma even as a child." Kurt received his first percussion instrument for his third birthday: a bass drum. Yet, this is only because he was entirely too impatient to play the guitar (Gracie 8). Like K... at the center of the paper... drug abuse continued into his adolescence and adulthood when he met Courtney Love. Love influenced Kurt's drug habits and by the end of their first year of marriage they were spending up to $400 a day on heroin (Gracie 33). On March 3, 1994, Kurt let his personal problems collide with publicity when he made his first suicide attempt in Rome with champagne and rohypnol pills (Gracie 40). By purposely overdosing on an illegal rape narcotic, Kurt had made his suicidal tendencies public. And on April 5, Kurt barricaded himself in the upper level of his garage with a stool, loaded with heroin, and tragically shot himself in the head with a shotgun ("Justice For Kurt"). Due to his poor judgment, selfish personality, and suicidal tendencies, Kurt Cobain not only killed himself, but killed the popular world of Grunge music forever..
