Between 1600 and 1700, many would think more of kings or queens who ruled their vast kingdoms for years and years rather than a great composer like Johann Sebastian Bach, a man who contributed greatly in Germany and many other specific regions of Europe during his lifetime. Born in Eisenach on March 21, 1685, Bach was a member of one of the finest musical families of all time for, for over 200 years, the Bach family had produced some of the most superb composers and performers, many of whom supported by churches, governments and nobles for their extraordinary works ("Wikipedia"). However, having been orphaned so early, Bach grew up in the house of his brother, Johann Christoph Bach, in Ohrdruf. In the first years of his life he attended dance schools, was an organist several times, especially in Arnstadt, Mühlhausen, Weimar, as well as court musical director in Cöthen and later, to be precise in 1723, he became grand master of the choir for twenty-seven years. St.Thomas of Leipzig and oversaw many of the school's events, dividing the students into four individual choirs and recruiting the talents of the city's professional musicians and university students (pages 1 - 14, Eidam). He continued as a choirmaster to the end of his days, writing various exquisite pieces that were performed before many audiences, many of which were performed by those of the four individual choirs he created as he led them through each piece ( page 1 - 14, Eidam). While this may not have seemed as important at the time as the rulings of kings and queens, Bach's contribution to his homeland of Germany and its people was certainly memorable and worthy of consideration. In fact, because of his con...... middle of paper ......important, through his music, which most people still listen to right around this time, despite the progress of music over the centuries. Therefore, in conclusion, although Johann Sebastian Bach may not have been a great king or nobleman of some kind, he was an extraordinary and unforgettable German composer and organist and dedicated himself to his greatest passion, music, in order to further the 'influence of his culture, so that others can carry such cultural paths with them and into future generations like ours, where even Bach has yet to be forgotten.
