If I were to ask my friends what I love to do, I guess most of them would give this answer: "Love to play sports." Sports are an important part of my life and if I had to choose my favorite sport to play it would be basketball. I couldn't imagine going a week without being able to touch a basketball, and I thought I would never have to. But one summer afternoon everything changed when I broke my leg. It left me on crutches for two months and I couldn't play basketball all summer. At first I thought it wouldn't be that bad, getting all the attention and sympathy from everyone. However, after one game, I quickly realized that I would do anything to get rid of those horrible crutches and get back on the field. It was early summer 2002 and the Mid America Youth Basketball (MAYB) national tournament was gaining steam. located in Andover, Kansas. Along with the rest of the team, I was excited to play basketball for the first time since the middle school basketball season ended. Our team, Carlon Oil, had been together and played every summer for the past four years. We were a really good team, with an overall record of 65-4 in those four years, and we were hoping to continue our legacy. Lonnie Lollar, our coach for the summer, was also the coach of our high school basketball team. I had a history of groin injuries and every summer it seemed like I would have to miss at least one game on the bench to ice my groin.
