Censorship plays a huge role in today's society. Censorship has excellent effects on society, putting a blindfold on certain types of media, language and other social values ​​that should not be seen by all human beings. Many know that censorship falls into the category of morality. Censorship is moral, because it bans some books from schools that should be banned, it helps parents keep their children away from material they shouldn't know, and it is politically correct for society and students thanks to its ethical values. Censorship is effective in many ways and should be used regularly because of its effects on students and society. First, censors ban certain books from school systems because of their language and numerous other attributes. The books have many different plots and conflicts within them. To me, books that talk about sex, foul language, murder, rape, or any other adult situation should not be accessible in school systems. One book that should be banned would be The Catcher and The Rye by JD Salinger. This book contains numerous adult language and sexual situations that a child can read. The Catcher in The Rye is an amazing book to read and has incredible meaning, but it is too vulgar to be read by young children in the school system. A specific example would be on page nine of the book where it states, “I don't care, except sometimes I get bored when people tell me to act my age” (Salinger 9). I wouldn't want my child to be exposed to that kind of language. I couldn't imagine my son asking me what the word "damned" or prostitute means, which is also mentioned in the book. Two other examples in the book would both come from page forty-four where aggressive foul language is stated. “Not… middle of paper… should not be in aquatint with, and it is politically correct for society and students due to its ethical values. Censorship is precise protecting students and society in various effective ways. If it weren't for censorship we wouldn't be responsible for protecting children's minds.
