Norma Jeane MortensonEveryone has heard of the stereotype; blonde bombshell. Well, there is no better woman than the famous Marilyn Monroe to fit into those shoes. Marilyn Monroe, born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926, in a Los Angeles general hospital to Gladys Mortenson. His birth certificate lists his father as unknown and throughout his life he will remain unknown. Due to her mother's unstable mental health and the fact that she was unmarried at the time, Norma Jeane was sent to live in foster care (The Mmm Girl). Foster care was the only home life she had for the first seven years of her life. . He lived under the care of Albert and Ida Bolender. They were a very religious and strict family. Whenever he talked about his childhood he said that they were the worst times of his life while living with them. They protected her and didn't let her do much (The Mmm Girl). In 1933 he returned with his mother, Gladys, for a short time. However this was cut short in 1934 when his mother began to show signs of advanced mental depression. Gladys was admitted to a "nursing home" in Santa Monica. Norma Jeane was soon after sent to live with her mother's best friend, Grace McKee. Grace loved Norma and always told her that one day she would be beautiful and a famous movie star (Wikipedia). Grace was planning to get married a year later and was experiencing some financial difficulties, so Norma was sent to live in an orphanage. She lived there from September 1935 to June 1937. During her stay, Grace often visited her, bringing her clothes and toys and teaching her how to apply makeup. Between 1937 and 1941 Norma bounced back and forth between living with the different… middle of paper… president. It is said that she was also in a relationship with Bobby Kennedy before her death (Wikipedia). Shortly before her shocking death, she started seeing Joe DiMaggio again. She realized that she was still head over heels for him and agreed to remarry the love of her life. They set the wedding date for August 8, 1962. Unfortunately, she never made it to their wedding, as she died 3 days before (Wikipedia). On August 5, 1962, at the young age of 36, Marilyn Monroe died. The cause of death is not yet clear, many believe it occurred due to an overdose. The authorities tried to say it was a suicide, but no one agreed. For 20 years after his death, Joe received flowers at his grave weekly. This was a promise he made to her when they married, and he kept it until his death (Wikipedia).
