I think all these tips should be taken into consideration, however, while writing you should not worry too much about whether or not you are using too many colorful words. I personally believe that his opinions could stifle the creativity that should be part of writing. For example, explain that color words should not be overused, color words are too often associated with different meanings, and colorless words can have too general a meaning. If a writer attempted to adhere to all of the guidelines Roberts suggests, he or she wouldn't know where to start. Robert places a lot of emphasis on the opinions of others: “It is always a grave mistake to think that your readers are more naive than they really are.” Among your opinions, guidelines and preferences, which of these allow for the free spirit of writing? Earlier in this module we read William Stafford's essay, “Writing,” in which he consistently emphasizes how important it is to ignore grammatical issues and the judgments of others during the process of composing an essay.
