“Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn” (Film Gone with the Wind). “…Life is a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get” (Forrest Gump film). “You're Killing Me, Baby” (The Sandlot Movie). These are some movie quotes from some fairly well-known films. They have meaning because one is unique, another is smart, and another is funny. If it's an influential quote, your audience will remember it because it affected them in a positive or negative way. Movies have been around since the early 1920s and have become an important part of modern society. Everyone can identify with at least one film, due to their diversity. Since everyone can relate to a film, it's safe to say that films can be quite influential. Some areas where films have had influence are storytelling, entertainment, and culture. Movies are a great version of storytelling because they make stories more relatable and memorable. Storytelling is one of the most powerful abilities that humans possess. It can be used to motivate, dominate and influence people. The scope and power of storytelling has grown enormously from the stories told around the campfire. It now covers every dimension of human emotions and endeavors. This makes the stories incredibly relatable and influential as you can identify with the emotions depicted and, if desired, be influenced by the decision the character makes. Before movies were invented, people relied on speech and the “written word” to hear stories. Each person visualized the characters, sets, and actions of the story differently. Filmmakers have taken the way of telling stories a step further. They take it upon themselves to physically set up the sets, put faces to the characters and… middle of paper… hey, they are changing, culture will always be influenced by movies just like they have been around since the 1920s. There are many things that can affect people. It can be something someone said, a motivational poster, or a form of entertainment. No matter what it is, the ability to influence is incredibly powerful. It can come to define who is influenced. Films are a huge source of influence because they are also a form of entertainment. Films can influence us because they have influenced storytelling, entertainment, and culture.
