In the article “America's Wandering Families”, I found that the two women interviewed not only had children to take care of who were going hungry, but they were also illiterate. According to Schwartz-Nobel, “Our politicians don't have the political will to help them by changing the system or even the minimum wage, at least not enough. They would rather pretend that people had problems than admit that the system had them” (254). This means that the government is not doing enough to recognize the difference between socioeconomic classes. One of the women was helped and given the opportunity for a better life, but she was treated unfairly. She was taken off the government help system and back to square one in shelters. He states, “they got me a job and my stamps got cut up” (Schwartz-Noble 260). First example, the system tries to help out, but it is not checking the legitimacy of individual job resources, instead it has simply cut off all the tides. This is a poor allocation of resources and the consequences show up when cases like these
