A bridge from eyes to eyes Globalization goes hand in hand with localisation. People often read designs by recognizing visual cues. Creating a more humanistic approach to visual design, a global design composed of localization, graphic signal, research, marketing and communication both linguistic and semiotic to break down the global code of design (Jones, 2011). “Lost in translation” happens more often during the pace of globalization. Misreading of design languages is not only a problem among lay people, designers have also been affected during international cooperation. Of course, gaps exist between different cultures (Jones, 2011). For example, Japanese director Akira Kurosawa's masterpieces are considered portraits of ideological conflicts and show individual sacrifices for feudalism. But in their Western remake versions, heroism and anarchism were emphasized instead. Just like the differences between Samurai and cowboy, design languages and cues are forming differently from East to West. Globalization has raised the challenge of design in an international context for designers. Alan Chan came up with a brilliant situation for his project that helped the international giant Coca-Cola pioneer the Chinese market. Combining the similar curves of the Coca-Cola logo and traditional Chinese ink printing, Chan designed the pleasing image of Coca-Cola in Chinese characters. Legible local identity became the key to making the Chinese accept these exotic pops and further occupy the local market.Hong Kong: An Example of International DesignThe success of the Coca-Cola project is just the tip of the iceberg. Chan has reached an international level… middle of the paper… he should abandon his design identity established by his cultural and educational background. From the great achievements that Hong Kong designers have presented, we can find that international design is not simply a westernization of design. The development of design in the trend of globalization is pushing designers to execute their works according to more standard and professional processes, but variety of inspirations in the design world which continue to play their crucial role. The globalization of design has created a more complicated situation for both domestic and international designers. The application of international design thinking could also help designers refine their design method and design thinking to approach the more intricate market, to fill the gaps of different knowledge influenced by different cultures or even human nature..
