Social class discrimination Social class discrimination is a negative attitude towards people based on their social or economic class. It is both discriminatory and unfair to people belonging to particular classes and beneficial to the upper classes. Social class discrimination has enormous negative effects on the discriminated classes. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every individual to take some actions to solve this problem. The first step to stopping social class discrimination is to first make sure that your beliefs do not label or belittle others. Therefore, a person should strive to be considerate towards others by treating them with respect. Refusing to share discriminatory comments disguised as humor promotes diversity and equity. It is extremely essential to be vigilant so as not to upset people of other cultures. Different people interpret words and actions differently. Once again, it is crucial to tolerate the lifestyle of others. In "On Dumpster Diving", Lars Eighner talks about his survival as a homeless garbage collector. According to Eighner, people discard perfectly good food (Peterson et al, 2011). But he does not state the fact in a sentence. Trying to understand another person's point of view and reasons before judging them to be wrong is another way to be less discriminatory. Mixing with people of all socioeconomic classes helps you better understand their values and beliefs. Learn directly about their opinions and situations. If being discriminated against, a person should not act as if this is not happening. Acts can escalate when people believe they can get away with it. Discussion with people who can provide useful advice and support is advisable. When someone else is discriminated against, tell the person that... middle of the paper... that he or she professes a different religion. Most people belong to a religious group because they were born into it. A person should understand and respect all other religions for peaceful coexistence. In conclusion, when you are accused of discrimination, it is important to listen carefully and sincerely apologize. People from different backgrounds may interpret what you intended to be harmless as offensive. When someone is accused of discrimination, they must have hurt someone's feelings, even if unintentionally. A person must avoid body language and word choice that cause discomfort or offense to others. Works Cited Peterson H, Brereton C, Bizup J, Fernald E, Goldthwaite A.
