Topic > The Value of Humanity - 1415

When you hear about atrocities such as genocides and other crimes against humanity, you tend to wonder how much humanity is worth. Does humanity really have “value”? Preserving humanity is important because it gives people hope and faith. Religion is largely based on kindness and humanity, and many people turn to religion as a source of hope. Humanity is threatened when atrocities, such as genocide, occur. Millions of people are killed and this is a horrible crime that often happens due to war. Furthermore, the consequences of the loss of humanity are substantial. A loss of humanity could result in an angry population, or a situation similar to that of Syria, where extremist groups rule some parts of the country. Loung Ung's First They Killed My Father connects to these overarching questions in many ways. The narrator, Loung Ung, is a victim of genocide in Cambodia. He has to hide from the Khmer Rouge, a communist group that targets many groups. Among them are the Chinese, the Vietnamese and the capitalists. Overall, humanity has a lot of value and the consequences of losing it are severe. Maintaining humanity is important for many reasons. Most of these have to do with maintaining faith in a religion and not losing hope. A common expression when someone sees something bad happen is "I've lost faith in humanity." While this may be said jokingly, it is actually a dangerous thing if it actually happens. The first big reason why humanity must be preserved is that most people believe in a divine being and a religion. This means they often turn to religion for help, believing that said divine being can make things right if they pray to and worship him. Overall, religion depends largely on the… center of the card… could include an angry populace, anarchy, and the formation of rebellious extremist groups. In conclusion, the value of humanity is so great that it may be the most important thing that governs our daily lives.
