Buzz; Hum. *teen answers phone* Next thing you know, the family is planning the teenager's funeral or trying to figure out they'll pay the hospital bills. Many people might argue that texting and driving laws should be for everyone, including adults and seniors. I believe the law should only include teenagers because it affects them at an early age. It will train their brain not to answer the phone every time it rings. Almost all teenagers today grew up with a telephone, but adults did not. Teens are so used to picking up the phone every time it rings. Adults should know better than to text while driving, they shouldn't need a law that says not to text and drive, but teenagers do. This is also why I think they should just ban the use of cell phones. “13% of drivers aged 18 to 20 involved in car crashes admitted to texting or talking on the phone at the time of the crash. 34% of teens say they have texted while behind the wheel of a car, 82% of Americans aged 16-17 own a cell phone. 52% say they have talked on the phone while driving." (Text Driving Ad Blog) These numbers could be reduced if we applied the changes I stated to My family is the worst at this, my mom tends to go on Facebook driving well, my dad does everything from the phone and my sister plays her own music, so she constantly changes the song with her phone. I seem to be the only one who doesn't touch his phone while driving. I don't text or drive because I saw the clip from the Oprah Winfrey show about texting and driving that scared me for the rest of my life. I don't want to be that teenager who didn't listen to the law and ends up killing another teenager and then have to face that family and explain to them that I was texting while driving. I also think it's really selfish, it's a bit like saying that this message is more important than the life of the person in front of me. I've also written a lot of articles about texting and driving which is why I don't text while driving. I don't want to be a hypocrite and go against everything I say about not doing it. Teens these days can't stay away from their phones. We grow with technology, we live with technology. I thought of this paragraph when you challenged us not to use our phones for an entire day. If we can't go an entire day or even two hours without using our phones, how does this law expect us to go 20 minutes without touching our phones? This is another example of why this law needs to target teenagers
