Research on this topic has highlighted that the majority of these adolescents experience a very hostile school environment. These adolescents are more likely than their heterosexual counterparts to have problems in school, to feel unsafe and disconnected from others, to be depressed, to use/abuse drugs and alcohol, and to commit suicide.
