I would like to begin this assignment with a brief explanation of the points and reasons that relate to the topic of how and what were the reasons why southern whites favored limiting rights and freedoms for the black population of the United States, such reasons and ideas included the organized and intimidating anti-black terrorist group The Ku Klux Klan, the introduction of the black codes formerly known as Jim Crow laws, and President Lincoln's ideas as l 'emancipation proclamation and oath of loyalty of 10% and finally sharecropping in the era of reconstruction. To begin this essay there will first be a brief explanation of the Reconstruction Era. The Reconstruction Era was a period of time that referred to the trials and errors committed in and by the United States. In an attempt to restructure and improve the laws and systems of politics, legality and economics. Before the Reconstruction era, the Civil War (which lasted 4 years) in the United States was the main reason and cause for the abolition of slavery. After the abolition of slavery, legal laws were put in place for the protection and welfare of the newly freed slaves, even though these laws were introduced to protect the slaves, the whites managed to introduce laws that denied the blacks their rights, the Blacks recently found freedom and it was the whites' way of forcing blacks into slavery and showing the black population that they were considered the superior race at that time. The Reconstruction era was supposed to be a time of change, but blacks saw it as an era of disorder and inequality, as well as seeing slavery as a form of social death.
