As previously mentioned, due to the racial prejudices of both the American and French military, African Americans are alleged to have raped and sexually assaulted women during the American occupation of the French. Both French and white American soldiers viewed African American soldiers as savages whose barbarism was deeply rooted in their African roots (240). What exists in this hatred is the conflicting relationship that white soldiers shared with the French regarding African American soldiers. While the white soldiers considered the French to be disgraceful and disgraceful, the French exerted the exact same belief on African American soldiers in that they were hypersexual and completely uncivilized. Although the white soldiers had good and proven evidence that the French were committing acts that were not socially accepted in American culture; this same evidence didn't even exist and was based on mere rumors that African American soldiers had committed this violence
