They assume that social media is extremely crucial for us because it connects us with people we have lost contact with. Furthermore, they think that social networks help us better understand people from the outside world because “they have brought us closer as a society, increasing our mutual communication and understanding of each other in relation to a broader society and culture” (Dmitriy Kozlov). Obviously I don't believe it. The connections people get from online social media, I assume, are not real-life relationships. As we all know, social networking goes hand in hand with chatting or engaging in computer screen activities. I understand that there is a possibility of getting real friends from virtual friends; however, there is also the possibility that we will get too involved in social media and distance ourselves from our own community. Larry Rosen, a professor of psychology at California State University, said, based on his research on how technology affects people: "But the time and effort we put into our virtual worlds limits the time to connect and especially to communicate to a deeper level in our real world” (Mary Johnson). Furthermore, social media not only reduces real-life connections, but also endangers the private information of people on the sites. “yet they have had little experience with the right to privacy” (Sherry Turkle, 341). Therefore, with little knowledge of privacy, these people do not know that private information on social media can easily lead to account fraud, identity theft. and “Entrusting your personal information to the care of others, no matter how diligently they handle it, increases your risk that that information will end up in the hands of others” (Alan Norton, 373). So, why does social media bring us more virtual relationships but fewer real relationships and create
