When I was a child, the world I lived in was full of happiness and purity. There is nothing to worry about as long as those around me are happy. A great happiness for me is when you open your eyes in the morning and the first thing you see is your family smiling at you. Unfortunately, as I get older and my mind opens up to learn more about this world, the world becomes more and more complicated for me. There are some people who are treated inhumanely just because they are poor or come from underdeveloped countries. What is the fault of them commuting to be treated harshly? Is it because they want a high standard of living and increase their income to support their families? This is certainly true in the case of what is happening with jobs in Qatar. Jim Murphy, Shadow Secretary for International Labor Development, recorded that migrant workers are lured to the Gulf state with the promise of good wages, only to have their passports taken away and unable to return to their homes (2014). There is a similar case to what is happening in Qatar, but it is much worse. Those from poor regions are easily deceived by black-handed companies to be used in inhumane ways, subjected to forced labor, and work in prostitution to boost the economy (Human Trafficking Thesis Examples, 2011). This research paper will discuss one form of human rights problem in GCC countries, namely human trafficking, what it is, who are the victims, why is it happening and what solutions the government has adopted to minimize this problem .
