1. Write a summary of text 1 (“Do 'helicopter moms' do more harm than good?”) or Robyn Lewis is a single mother of two boys. Since their birth his life has revolved only around them and even as they grew up and in college he still has a great interest in them. Lewis acts as a "mom secretary" to her children, organizing their lives, proofreading, and doing their laundry. Her children both say they are grateful for their mother's efforts and Lewis takes great pride in being able to help them find balance in their lives. Helen Johnson, a university parenting consultant, explains that Lewis is among many other mothers and fathers a 'helicopter parent'; she hovers over every step her children take and whether she can get them through anything in life, she will. Being a helicopter mother is a habit for her, because if on the one hand the constant reminders help her children, on the other they help her to stay close to them until the moment comes when she is forced to letting go.2. An outline of attitudes towards excessive parenting in text 1, 2 and 3 o In text 1 (“Do 'helicopter mums' do more harm than good?”) Helen Johnson talks about how parents often believe they doing what's best for their children, just wanting them to succeed in everything while probably doing more harm than they think. When a mother "helicopters" her child, the child is led to believe they have to monitor me and help in everything because they simply can't do it alone. In text 1 they also explain how “helicopter moms” not only help their children, but are also very effective for parents who still can't let go. When their children go off to college, they continue to loom over them because it makes them feel more connected to them. o In the text… in the middle of the paper… and they won't know if you constantly do everything for them. They need to be aware that their parents should have their respect and this is not something you get when you worry about your child. Teens will often take your best efforts for granted and feel challenged if they had to do something completely on their own. Parents should monitor and control their children, but up to a certain point; Of course it is good for a child to have devoted and concerned parents, but "helicopter parents" take things to the next level and no one will benefit, in the long run, from having parents of that caliber. Parents should not monitor their teenage children with GPS systems as in the third text and at the same time they should not leave their children to their own devices. Children should be controlled, helped and monitored, but not carried forward in life by you or anyone else.
