“Unfriended” is a horror film shot entirely on Skype. The footage involved a couple of friends communicating via Skype, where all the horror scenes took place during their Skype calls. Filming a horror film entirely on a social media platform is something fresh and unique. Another film that took a new approach to the horror genre is "Fifteen." Fifteen is a Halloween horror film shot live with a handheld device, shown live on Periscope. The film was shot from the killer's point of view for the majority of the film, unlike any other traditional way of making a horror film where we are always placed on the side of the prey, knowing little about the predator. Shooting a live horror film using a handheld device and showing us the killer's point of view is something completely new for the horror genre. Inspired by the Insidious film series, I want to make a paranormal horror film, based on a haunted house subgenre. The spirits within the film will belong to the house itself, unlike Insidious where the person was haunted (Horror on Screen 2013).
