In A Song of Leibowitz human civilization ends in war, people's desire to recreate paradise is one of the reasons why science and technology eventually they ruin environments and societies. There are three reasons: People want to develop, and rapid development in the world is limited by the environment and societies. First of all, the pursuit of power is the reason why science and technology ultimately ruin the world. Man desires goodness, we want to live in paradise, we want to have the power to control nature, science and technology are our supporters. Why do the people in A Canticle for Leibowitz have the ability to develop civilization, but lack the ability to stop war and destroy themselves? The story of Adam and Eve departed from Paradise and formed the current world full of suffering and injustice.1 Because man is arrogant, as Lynn White said: "Have dominion over creation"2 and man is irresponsible, which it leads people to abuse science and technology in the negative way. At the end of A Canticle for Leibowitz, people have the technology to create spaceships and other technologies to make the earth a paradise. They should be satisfied, but the people of the earth are divided into two superpowers, the Asian Coalition and the Atlantic Confederation. They are equipped with nuclear weapons, a nuclear war has broken out, and they have destroyed civilization. People desire to develop, the ambition to control the world ultimately ruins the world. Everything goes back to the beginning, human history is destined to repeat itself. The desire to re-develop civilization will allow history to repeat itself. No matter how strong man is, man is still part of nature, we cannot control nature. Humans will destroy what they cannot control.... middle of paper... sensitivity, science will not ruin the environment and societies, the human brain is the main leader. In A Song for Leibowitz “Those who remained had the easiest part. Theirs was just to wait for the end and pray that it wouldn't come.”7 People want to develop, they want to create heaven, and they will make it happen no matter what happened. By the time they realize the environmental problems, it is already too late, their desire is already ruining the world. From the above discussion, it can be seen that people's desire to create paradise will lead to 3 questions, desire to develop, pursuit of power and unlimited use of natural resources. However, only science and technology are our supporters, the human brain is the main leader. In this way, the desire to recreate paradise is one reason why science and technology ultimately ruin environments and societies.
