2.0 The old trend Inquiry-based learning took place in the early years, but in inquiry the ancient educators presented it in a different way. The first educators apply the traditional method. Ontario (2013) stated that “the process involves a closed investigation.” It is believed that teachers who use closed-ended questions usually provide the result that students need to achieve. For example, if the teacher has to conduct a survey on the students, he will distribute the questions and also the answer to them. Students need to take the survey and get the uniform response like teachers. This trend was personally occurring in those days in my school. During my school day, the science teacher who taught me usually explains the objective followed by the outcome of the study. This is mainly for students to test the outcome identified by the teacher. There should be no other answer than the explanation given by the teacher himself. Therefore, the teacher expects the students' response to be the same as the teacher's explanation. Graham emphasizes that “the teacher conveys the facts to the students” (2012: 1). It is therefore palpable that it is the teachers who pamper the students by providing them with the product instead of letting them experience it on their own. Students are incapable and lack self-confidence if the teacher gives them the answer, so what's the point of having tests and exercises in school? This would simply be a waste for the students. According to the Educational Broadcasting Corporation, they believed that “the traditional approach to learning is focused on mastering content, with less emphasis on developing skills and nurturing curious attitudes” (2004).
