With increased school pride and discipline, students' behavior will improve outside of school too. A study conducted by the University of Oxford and published in the Daily Mail newspaper revealed that students did not want to compromise their school pride by misbehaving outside of school. The study also concluded that students concentrate on their studies more easily because the distraction of “correct” clothing has disappeared, leading to a higher achievement rate. In non-uniformed schools, there are unofficial dress codes set by students. These types of dress codes cause students to be divided into groups divided by clothing and this is a first step in losing school pride, safety, attendance and student achievement. In Sweden almost no schools have uniforms and the latest PISA report shows that the best performing countries use school uniforms. School uniforms should be mandatory in Sweden so that it can once again achieve a top position in the PISA report.
