A genius once said, "We all make mistakes, and it's best to make them before you start" (Tesla Universe). Nikola Tesla, brilliant and honest, is science's most unknown liberator. He came up with many useful inventions; direct current, wireless communication and radio-controlled robot. Although he is not credited for most of his inventions, the ideas he brought to life changed the way we live. When Tesla set foot in New York he came up with the idea of alternating current, drawing his death in the sand. To start, he went to work for Edison who was working with direct current at the time. Edison took advantage of Tesla which led to the “Battle of the Currents”. Edison invented direct current which was very popular in his time and is still used. The direct current created a very dim light and could only travel two miles. With this short distance many power plants had to be built (A&E Television Networks). When Tesla came to America in 1884, he worked on machines for Edison at his power plants. Tesla did not stay with Edison and left soon after Edison refused to pay him for his work. Tesla said: “I predict that very soon the old incandescent lamp, having a filament heated to brightness by the passage of an electric current through it, will completely disappear” (“Tesla Universe”). Anticipating this, he made alternating current better and more efficient than Edison's direct current. It could travel hundreds of miles and created a bright light that was the exact opposite of direct current. The alternating current was purchased by Tesla from Westinghouse for over $1 million (William Harris). When Westinghouse took over, AC's popularity skyrocketed... mid-paper... y.com.
