Clothing has been around for thousands of years. Even during the early Stone Age, cavemen wore clothes. By watching cartoons like the Flintstones, you can understand what the clothes were made of; animal skin. In fact, that fashion statement has continued into the 21st century with animal-print clothing. Due to the social events Americans have gone through from the roaring '20s, to the disco fever of the '80s, fashion has improved to match the popular scene. Clothing has changed over the years based on the social issues and lifestyles of those who have lived through the decades. Imagine this: by remembering and looking at old photo albums that their grandparents own, they can see how much fashion has changed, albeit in such a short space of time. Everything has changed, from clothing, to the style of cars, to hairstyles. As society became more technologically advanced, we also progressed in our wardrobes. As society continues to evolve our lifestyle towards something more, our clothing will also have to adapt to these changes. Over the years, many historic events have taken place in America. During the Roaring '20s, America was hit by the stock market crash followed by the Great Depression. The 1950s marked the end of World War II. Many technological advances were also made, such as color television in 1951, which sparked a revolution of colorful clothing and new fabrics for future decades of fashion. The 1920s were in fact a turning point for the face of women's fashion. Women of this period were bored by the habit of wearing floor-length dresses and skirts. Women began to break free from tradition and wear pants. Many women began drinking alcohol in bars with men and is...... middle of paper...... what she took off were some earrings. Not just studs, but huge earrings. If the earrings didn't touch the shoulder, they weren't big enough. In the 80s women were obsessed with broad, gigantic shoulders. Many dresses were sold with integrated straps and took the fashion world by storm (Alexander “80fashion”, web). The 90s were all about the rock and roll grunge look. Jeans with chains attached to the pocket were very popular with teenage boys.Works Citedhttp://www.skwirk.com/p-c_s-14_u-189_t-506_c-1873/fashion-in-the-1950s/nsw/fashion-in -the-1950s/australia-s-social-and-cultural-history-in-the-post-war-period/social-and-cultural-features-of-the-1950s Webpage-Skwirk- http://www .retrowaste.com/1950s/fashion-in-the-1950s/ Phipps/9 March 2014 http://www.liketotally80s.com/ Alexander-web-maggio 2012http://history1900s.about.com/od/1920s/ a /flappers.htm
