Parents' work When I was still very young, both my parents continued to work. At just one year old, my mother worked as a clerk in a doctor's office and my father worked at the SPCA, also working 90 hours a month as a reserve police officer. So I spent most of my time with my mother growing up. My father later became a law enforcement officer, then left the SPCA, but still continued to be a police officer. Once my mother became pregnant with my sister, my parents decided they were financially stable enough for my mother to quit her job to stay home with me and my sister. This has allowed me to have a close bond with my mother, but because of how much my father works, it has been difficult for me to have even a remotely similar relationship with my son.
