For example, a counseling organization generally requires a client's consent before it can collect their health information. The Privacy Act regulates how these organizations collect and handle personal information, including health information. It also includes provisions which generally allow a person to access information held about them. The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) also regulates the processing of health information contained in an individual's electronic health record.
