An overview of the current state of the problem in South Africa. Poverty: Poverty has been a major socio-economic problem throughout South Africa. Families in South Africa live in very unsatisfactory conditions. Even though the South African government tries to do something about it, the problems seem to be increasing somehow, even though research has shown that poverty levels in South Africa have decreased by 45.5%. Many people in South Africa are unemployed (a major -economic issue in South Africa), or the breadwinner of the family dies or somehow loses their job. Normally, in situations like this, family members have no one to meet their basic needs, which all in all leads to poverty. Children within the family cannot receive education because parents do not have enough money to send them to school, which increases the poverty rate, leading to uneducated children, who later have no chance of having a good sufficiently paid work. provide for your basic needs. This problem leads to crime, because people believe that stealing will solve their poverty problems, but this in return can cause big problems for a company. For me I would divide poverty into two dimensions, the first is absolutely poor, and this would be when you don't even have enough money to support your own basic needs or those of your family (these needs would be clothes, shelter and food which are the main things to live a healthy lifestyle). The second dimension would be “relative poverty”, and this would refer to people whose income is too low in their particular community. Poverty levels in SA between 2006 and 2011 fell, according to poverty trends in the report SA, that was r...... middle of paper... hospitals is that all they have to do is try to appoint staff who have already been educated on medical matters and if that happens they have people who lack education , they should be ready to have courses and workshops for the staff because that's how they know and learn a lot. They also need to know that it takes time to educate a person, so patience will have to be the main quality. My advice for social workers would be pretty much the same as the advice above, but I think in this case they should show the staff how to use their equipment and they should help and show them how to communicate not only with the orphans but also with the parents who are willing to adopt the child. They should also take the staff with them to courses or take them with them when they go to give presentations because maybe they can learn a lot. Eventually practice will make perfect.
