The point is that, when the salary increases and tipping is something that is not mandatory, customers are the ones who will receive worse service, since the waiters will not make an effort still to please the customer with the tip, therefore indirectly worsening the quality of the service. Customers, who should have felt good since they didn't need to worry about "How should I tip right?" question, now they actually get worse service because the waiters don't even have a reason to worry anymore. And it really raises a question: should we ban the practice of tipping or not? Even though Eater made an extremely solid point that needs to be considered, I still believe that the tipping system should be banned as it harms society in many other ways, and as waiters have now gotten what they think they deserve, they they can actually do a better job and provide better services.
