Perspectives of Healing Assignment 1This essay is based on the topic of mental illnesses through mental institutions, but on the perspectives of how fear among mentally ill patients and professional healthcare workers is led by them. Within this assignment the patient's experiences in psychiatric hospitals. Therefore observing how useful psychiatric institutions are for mentally ill people who have been committed. Within the essay, two chapters from two different books, written by two different authors, will be compared. The first book is written by Hardcastle, M, et al (2007): In Experiences of Mental Health in Patient-Care: Chapter 9: Feeling Humiliated: Experiences of a black man, which will be referred to as extract one within the test. The second book of "Laurance, J (2003) How Fear Drives the Mental Health System: Chapter 1 The State We Are in Pure Madness (pp.1-18)", which will be referred to as extract two within this wise. A psychiatric hospital, also called psychiatric hospital/wards, are subunits of regular hospitals that specialize in treating individuals with serious mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and many others... psychiatric hospitals are all different and there are some that specialize in different types/stages of mental illnesses, for example some will specialize in short-term outpatient therapy, which is for patients whose mental health is not that severe. However, there are other psychiatric hospitals that specialize in lifelong care for patients suffering from serious mental illnesses who require treatment, care and routine, that is, in a controlled environment.
