It is obvious that gastronomy plays a huge role in the progress of the world economy and society's consciousness. Despite this, it is worth noting that gastronomy, in the context of hospitality and tourism, still lacks empirical studies addressing its importance (Kivela & Crotts, 2006). As described by Scarpato, Hjalager and Richards (2002), gastronomy remains a part of the "grey area" within cultural tourism.
