3. Details: Cholera outbreak in Nampula On 4 March 2014, a cholera outbreak was reported in Nampula, northern Mozambique. At the time of the information release, health authorities had already recorded 172 cases and said that on average 10 to 13 seriously affected people still arrive at the cholera treatment center every day. To control the epidemic, water samples were analyzed to determine the presence and level of contamination and residents were encouraged by mobile health units to apply and strengthen individual and collective hygiene measures.
