The Notebook of Nicholas Sparks Soon after graduation in 1932, on the opening night of the Neuse River Festival in Newbern, North Carolina, Noah met his friends Fin and Sarah for a night of games, food and fun. When he got there, Fin and Sarah were talking to a girl who Noah thought was the most beautiful and intriguing girl he had ever seen, her name was Allie. They hung out at the festival and drank a few Cherry Cokes until closing, the whole time they were there Noah kept trying to ask Allie out on a date but she kept turning him down. A few days after the fair he saw Allie again and tried to ask her out again, but she rejected him again. Fin and Sarah finally had enough, decided it was time for these two to meet, so they set Noah and Allie up on a blind date at the movies. After the movie Fin took Sarah home in his car and Allie walked with Noah around town. They talked about their families and the future, after which Noah and Allie could not be kept apart. They spent the summer days hanging out and fell in love. Summer romances aren't supposed to last, right? Allie's parents thought so. They didn't like that Allie spent so much time with Noah because he wasn't as rich as them. So, after a heated argument with Allie about it, her parents decided it was time for them to move and prepare Allie for college in New York. Noah didn't know how their relationship would end with her going to New York and him staying to work in the lumber mills, so they broke up. But deep down they still loved each other. Allie left for New York and settled in college. She started meeting new friends and was trying to adjust to her new life without Noah. A few years passed and Alli... middle of paper... would never be separated again. They lived a long and happy life with their children and grandchildren, but a few years later Allie developed Alzheimer's. When he could no longer live at home, Noah closed the house and they moved to a nursing home. Allie's condition continued to worsen and every day Noah read to her the notebook he had written, containing their entire life together, hoping that a small part of her would return to him. She remembered him from time to time. The last memory they shared together was that they were husband and wife again. She was almost gone by then. Allie asked Noah if their love could take them away together, and eventually it did. That night they died peacefully in their sleep. Hand in hand, heart to heart.
