In Greek mythology, Theogony recalls the lineage of Greek deities. Part of the story contains information about a monster called Orthrus. The beast is a two-headed dog responsible for guarding the island. However, Orthrus was eventually slaughtered by the epic hero, Heracles. Obviously, a two-headed monstrous dog has the potential to cause a catastrophe. But trained properly, Orthrus could have been a valiant guard dog and become an honorable hero in Greek legend. Technology in the present is very similar to Orthrus in that progress and advancements can lead to a positive or negative impact on the world. The Internet is a two-headed beast; one head could allow for positive evolution while the other head could bring chaos and destruction. The Internet and cybersecurity have become animals with great power. The power and danger present in cyber abuse must be addressed. The world desperately needs a Heracles trained in the arts of cyberwarfare and cybercrime. Cybersecurity is quickly becoming an important factor in business management, interaction with government, and personal privacy. Many people in the United States constantly communicate via devices such as phones or computers, and the use of such devices will continue to increase. With the abundant use of technology, the possibility of being attacked also increases. The more people use the technology, the greater the likelihood of an attack. Although the media is only now becoming aware of cyberattacks, cyberattacks are occurring more often than in the past. The trend to use cyberspace as a battlefield will most likely become more pervasive and common. This trend also calls into question whether or not technology should have limits or restrictions. I... half of the document... energy to complete. In conclusion, Blakeslee makes a reasonable and compelling argument for using education to help combat and prevent cybercrime. Weather is also another important factor to recognize. Due to the rapid technological advances of the last thirty years, time is perhaps the only true cure for cybersecurity. The Orthrus of technology is a beast that can be tamed. Heracles must not destroy the two-headed monster, and we must not completely destroy the use and access of the Internet. However, you need to pay close attention to cybersecurity to ensure safety and peace of mind. Whether it is education or time, litigants and the average citizen must realize that work and energy must be invested in fighting cybercrime. Works Cited Blakeslee, Melise R.
