Topic > The Necklace by Guy De Maupassant - 1005

The series is a story written with the intention of combining greed, vanity, forbidden desire and wealth. It was written by a famous writer named Guy De Maupassant. The talented writer was born in 1850 and died in 1893. Thanks to his unique style, he was considered one of the best and most famous writers of the 19th century. Mr. Maupassant managed to write 30 volumes, 300 short stories, travel books, articles and poems. Today I feel fortunate to have read one of Maupassant's many short stories entitled "The Necklace", written in 1884. In my opinion, the story was written with such perfection that it captivated my interest. It was much more than I expected from a story. Throughout the story there was talk of a woman named Mathilde. She was overcome with discontent with her situation in society and wanted more than she could afford. He daydreamed about the pleasures of life and grieved over how little he had. Her husband was an employee of the Ministry of Education and was satisfied with their situation. They didn't have much money but in his heart it was enough. Her husband noticed that she was not happy and, with love and good intentions, brought home an invitation to a party reserved for wealthy society. She hoped this would cheer her up not knowing that this invitation would change their lives for everyone. At this point in the story, I thought that Mathilde was very lucky to have a husband who would do everything he could to make her happy. My husband sometimes makes an extra effort to please me, but I make sure he knows I appreciate it. Mathilde's husband didn't get the reaction he hoped to get. Instead she was bitter and began to complain about having nothing to wear. A tactic used by her hoping that her husband will offer her the money he was saving to buy a gun. Without thinking twice he gave it to her but it wasn't enough, she wanted more. She started complaining that she needs jewelry with the dress. Her husband suggested she borrow one from his rich friends. Mathilde then borrowed a necklace that to her was simply breathtaking from a very dear friend named Mrs. Forrestier. In the end she was happy and the couple went to the party.
