Topic > The writing process: composing through criticism...

Sally took the opportunity. Long-haired, athletic Sally gathered all her strength and reached out, like Stretch Arm Strong, to catch that ball right from the sky above. Which one sounds better? Which would you rather have in your paragraph? With a few simple things to keep in mind, you too can write better. The book titled The Writing Process: Composing Through Critical Thinking, by Roberta Allen and Marcia Mascolini, taught you everything from thinking before you write to putting things together to how to prepare specific forms of essays. It's definitely something you should read before even thinking about another article. First of all, before you can write an actual article, you first need to follow some steps to prepare the essay, and then when the time comes you can write your essay with ease and add details. When you have a clear head you can write much easier, although it is difficult to acquire that mindset. Putting your thoughts on paper without worrying about perfection and details helps the entire writing and analysis process. The first thing to do before even starting brainstorming is to understand who your audience is, who are you addressing the newspaper to? You need to make your message meaningful to your audience and make sure you think about what your audience needs, expectations, knowledge and attitudes towards your topic. Anticipate their questions and how they will respond to your answers. Some key ideas to think about when evaluating your audience are to think about primary and secondary readers. So what do they already know about your topic, and what characteristics of your audience will influence the appearance of the document? So think about what… middle of the paper… memo, shows you how to write proposals and progress reports, and how to document secondary sources. In conclusion, this book was surprisingly informative and very useful. It is definitely something every student should read before writing another paper. Describes the dos and don'ts of the writing process; It's a great way to improve your technique. This book has gone from showing you exactly how to write certain types of documents, such as long messages and memos, to comparing and contrasting documents, to showing you how to write in detail with all documents. This book is definitely something I would recommend to future students. Especially in business classes or any writing course. Writing is an important part of communication and this book has helped with the fundamentals that many people lack but are essential in the long run.
