Too much pride is a bad thing. You can be proud, but at a certain point it becomes too much and prevents your mind from doing the right thing. It just becomes pride and nothing else. Greed is also a very dangerous thing: too much greed can lead someone into bad situations as they do things mindlessly, just for the reward. Pride and greed must be balanced otherwise things will get worse. "The chief went on to reward the others: 'Every man on the bench who had sailed with Beowulf and risked the voyage received a bounty, a precious possession. And compensation, a price in gold, was set for the Geat Grendel who had cruelly killed before,'” Beowulf (1049-1054). This quote explains that all the men who were there on the journey to kill Grendel received a reward. This represents greed because if some people know that there is a reward at stake, they will do everything they can and risk many things just for a reward. This also applies to our lives.
