As a gay Catholic woman I feel like a second-class citizen when it comes to what I think of my church, that I'm not as good as my straight brothers and sisters. I have been in a relationship for 12 years and in a civil union for 5 years. I take my relationship seriously as any heterosexual couple would, but mine is not recognized by my church making me feel invisible and my love inferior to that of others. In my opinion "love is love". I hope that the church changes its doctrine on its view of homosexuality and that churches begin to embrace everyone in their community and demonstrate that they are open to the diversity and modernity that will be most attractive to them. younger members of the community and help integrate young and old.
