Topic > Disaster Horror: 1970s Horror

If a film cannot be taken seriously, many audience members will find that the film begins to leak into camp territory. One genre that can really feel this is disaster cinema, especially the 1970s cycle of films. Perhaps the main factor that can cause a genre and series like this to become camp is the fact that the characters are generally paper-thin or simple, the setting/disaster can be ridiculous, and the hammy acting/dialogue changes the emotions of the public. . Of course there are many different factors that can make a genre like this campy, but it all boils down to this: if the audience can't accept the drama, then how should they take the film?
