Although the Chinese government has paid attention to the issue, it takes time to create opportunities in a highly populated society. Furthermore, non-governmental donations greatly support academic development. Authorities in China and the United Kingdom have allocated a lot of funding for education. Something worth noting is that the UK has several independent charities, for example the British National Association for Environmental Education (NAEE) and Sustainability and Environmental Education (SEEd) which support the teaching of environment in the formal education sector. They will host training courses for educators, promote ESD and support sustainable schooling. Not only the UK government, but also the community plays a crucial role. In contrast, the traditional mentality of Chinese students is to access a high-level education. Living in a highly competitive study environment, most of them tend to focus on their core subjects. Inevitably, non-exam oriented subject matter is easily overlooked. Therefore, even though they receive a lot of funding, only a small part of it has been used for the environment
