The reason why I think Dusit Thani Group is interesting to me is because it is one of the Thai chain hotels that is successful in Thailand and abroad. My family also works in the hotel industry, we have a small hotel in Phuket. From the point that Dusit Thani Group is a Thai brand and also starts from small business. I am interested in studying Dusit Thani Group and adapting to the family business. General BG & History Dusit Thani Group ranked third among high-end hotels in Thailand and 15th in Asia. Dusit Thani Group has more than 60 years of experience in the hotel industry and also the very first five-star hotels (Dusit Thani Bangkok, 2010). Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui founded the Dusit Thani group in 1949 in Bangkok. First, he opened the first hotel called Princess (Dusit Thani Bangkok, 2010). Later, in 1970, he invested in a property called Dusit Thani, which means "City in Paradise". Furthermore, in 1987 the Dusit Thani Group renovated the first resort in Pattaya, followed by the beach resort in Laguna Phuket. In 1989, Dusit Resort and Polo Club opened HuaHin, which later changed its name to Dusit Thani HuaHin. In 1995, it acquired Hotel Nikko Manila, Philippine Hoteliers Inc. (PHI), Japan Airlines Development Company Limited, and JAL Trading Inc. In 2001, Dusit Thani Group opened another branch in Dubai (Dusit International, n.d.). In 2005, the regional office of the Dusit Thani Group in the Middle East was established. In 2006, Dusit Thani Group expanded the brand by creating the new generation of the brand called DusitD2.
