Communication is a vital part of transmitting information and through these methods there are more ways than ever to convey this information. Where experts say communication has declined; communication has never been easier or more accessible while maintaining a long-term relationship with a person on another continent. Whether these methods are through written letters, phone conversations, Skype, text messages, or FaceTime; stated methods of interaction have made communication easier than ever in the 21st century. They help us connect with people that would otherwise have been impossible in the 20th century. Rai and Rai state that “Over the last four or five decades, the study of human communication has been refined and strengthened by the contribution of a variety of disciplines. Definitions, process descriptions and analyzes of the elements of communication have been developed by many scholars." (2008, p.1) In this quote Rai states that communication between human beings has been “refined” and “strengthened”.
