It could slow the effects of global warming Global warming has been a recurring issue in the news lately, but not everyone realizes how big the impact is on Earth. A space between sentences The climate of the whole world is changing. Climate change happens naturally, but now people are not only causing it, but accelerating it. Scientists believe that our use of fossil fuels causes global warming (Musgrave). If the 6.6 billion people on earth changed some daily habits, we might be able to slow the effects of global warming and ensure the life of our fossil fuels is extended. The gradual increase in the temperature of the atmosphere wreaks havoc on glaciers, rainforests and numerous other natural habitats. Rainforests are being drastically reduced in number every year due to climate change and people destroying them for lumber or industrial development. This destruction puts many species in danger due to their home being destroyed. However, this destruction does not only affect the animals that live in the forests. Rainforests provide large amounts of oxygen in the air. Wait, big leap here. One of the main causes of the depletion of the ozone layer is the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that is released into the air daily. Since plants absorb CO2 and emit oxygen, the more trees and plants are destroyed, the more CO2 will be in the atmosphere. This will ultimately result in further depletion of the ozone layer, and the effects of global warming will continue to alter the earth's ability to support life. So far you are doing a good job solving problems with the ozone layer. But you need a transitional sentence to connect this to... middle of paper......om.ezproxy.apus.edu/Considering this article was written for children, it actually had a lot of information and good definitions in it. It focused on what might happen to certain species of animals and explained exactly what some of the terminology meant. It was easy to understand what could happen and what caused it. Marshall, Bob. “Hot spots”. Field & Stream: WINTER DOUBLE ISSUE December 1, 2007: 39. Research Library. ProQuest. APUS virtual library system. November 28, 2007This article is about the destruction of natural habitats and how this could affect our environment if global warming does not slow down in the near future. We talk about some of the changes that have already been made to the hunting and fishing seasons. It also reminds us of melting glaciers and how rising temperatures and sea levels could be harmful to the earth.
