Topic > Drugs and Drug Use - 749

Drugs are often sold illegally and under the radar. People who use drugs can abuse them, but they can also use them for good. Drugs are part of America's history, as they were used as painkillers and medicines. Not everyone uses drugs, but once you use them you can't do without them. The drugs can be abused by teenagers and the people who buy them, but they can also be used for medical and home use. Drugs can be very addictive, especially for people who use them over and over again. Usually they can't get rid of them because they are so addictive. The main people who use drugs are celebrities, teenagers and drug dealers. Celebrities use drugs because they think it makes them more popular. When they try the drug once, they can't stop taking it and using it. Teens use drugs to fit in with their friends or to make themselves more popular. They end up just like celebrities, remaining addicted to what they can't break free from. Dealers may use drugs or simply sell them to celebrities or teenagers. (Colihan, Kelley) Adolescents have sources for obtaining drugs, but not all adolescents use drugs. Those who use drugs start around the age of twelve. The survey was administered to approximately 67,500 people aged 12 and older. An estimated 8 percent of people surveyed used an illicit drug in 2007, in the last month since the survey was conducted. An illicit drug is an illegal drug that is also sold illegally. Those who use drugs may have family problems and/or bullying problems, which brings us back to their attempt to integrate into society. The drugs people use must come from someone, but who? The drug usually comes from a person who sells it on the street. Those dealers get it from a higher source and from that high... middle of paper... to the brain. (Chakraburtty)All drugs cost a lot of money, but not all of them cost the same amount. Most drugs are not only illegal, but also very difficult to sell without being caught by the authorities. The reason they cost so much is because they cannot be produced at a high level of production. They are also not sold in small towns, but are sold in larger cities such as Detroit, Michigan, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Hollywood, California. (Wright, Bob) There are many different ways we can use drugs, for example for medical use and for home use. These ways are not always the best because some people might abuse that freedom and overdose, become addicted, or even sell them to their friends. We also use drugs in terrible ways, leading to death or everlasting illness. In conclusion, drugs are usually used for negative purposes, but there are ways to use them for beneficial purposes.
