Both consist of 14 verses, but these 14 verses have different roles. English sonnets have a couplet at the end and are made up of three quatrains. The first 8 lines of the Italian sonnets are used as a premise (octave), while the last 4 lines respond to this premise. Forms and free verse are two styles of a poem. Poets who prefer forms do so because they like the order and traditional tone of poetry. Poets who prefer free verse do so because they want to change the tone of the poem. It would make sense to write a sonnet if a poet wants to have a rhythm in his poetry. The definition of enjambment is that which “gives the writer the ability to restrain or stimulate the rhythm of the poem” (Oliver 74). Personally, I'm not a fan of enjambement because I prefer forms: I like order and knowing what to expect from a poem. The shapes also sound more musical and aurally more attractive. Journal 5: Diction, tone, voice and imagery differ in poetry from prose because in poetry the choice of words is much more important due to the very limited length of poems. Poets must establish a special connection between themselves and readers very quickly, unlike prose writers who have this ability for thousands of pages. A poorly chosen word in a poem - you lose the reader's attention. It doesn't work the same way in prose, prose is a much more forgiving literary genre at that
