Since the beginning of time people have always been looked at differently depending on the color of their skin or what their religion, race or beliefs might be. It is our human nature to not love people for certain things they are. Many will argue that nowadays we are no longer in a race war, but how can you be so sure when you actually open your eyes and see the reality. Rapper Kanye West once said that "racism is still alive, they're just hiding it" and these words are far from false. You have to ask yourself the real question about racism and that is: how could you ever cure something like that in people's minds? People are free to think and believe what they want and old habits like racism will never change in people. 1619, a date remembered by most African Americans (Afroamhistory). This date symbolizes the year when people were kidnapped from their homeland, Africa, by the Dutch and brought as slaves to America. Africans at that time never imagined that they would be kidnapped and become slaves. Doing things like farming, picking cotton, and cleaning Africans freed the white man from all his choirs and this made them masters. When you have become the master of someone or something, in our minds that person or thing is automatically considered inferior to you. The idea that African Americans are inferior to whites has been around for years and was first challenged with the abolition of the law. slavery in 1865 with the 13th Amendment (Our Papers).
